Spoilers and Rumors About Y&R's Exciting Upcoming Storylines

After a dark and depressing summer, Fall 2009 on CBS’s The Young and the Restless looks to be a much more promising time as old storylines wrap up and new and exciting possibilities emerge. See below for a compilation of what’s in store for the residents of Genoa City.

The Nick/Sharon/Phyllis Triangle

Nick has finally learned that he is the father of Sharon’s baby Faith, but Sharon doesn’t want anyone else, especially Nick’s wife Phyllis, to know the paternity. Although she is initially committed to raising Faith on her own, Nick vows to be a devoted father and he and Sharon almost reconcile. Co-head writer Scott Hamner teases to Soap Opera Digest that their reunion is “going to completely fall apart. There are going to be some manipulations by the people around [Sharon], which ends up creating a series of events that is going to ultimately make her a different, stronger character.” And Sharon may finally be getting a new love interest. Rumors suggest that her former friend Diego Gutierrez may be returning to Genoa City, this time played by Guiding Light’s Jeff Branson. Will Sharon finally be able to break away from Nick and find true love with another man? And how will Phyllis react when she finds out that Nick is the father of Sharon’s baby?

Phyllis’s Dark Past

During the month of September, a teenager will come to town with information about Phyllis’ past. According to an audition video posted on YouTube which revealed upcoming scripts, the character’s name is Daisy and she will become a babysitter for Summer. During this time, she’ll also befriend Summer’s half-brothers Daniel and Noah, and she’ll kiss Daniel. Phyllis will see the kiss and warn Daisy that Daniel is too old for her. Daisy will then threaten to expose Phyllis if Phyllis continues to interfere in her life. What dark secrets does Daisy know about Phyllis? What other impact will the introduction of Daisy have on the Newman family?

Victor and Jack Hunt Mary Jane/Patty

After being betrayed by Victor, Adam, Jack, Jeff and Gloria, Mary Jane (who is really Patty Williams) is going to become more dangerous and unpredictable. For one, during the week of September 6th, Mary Jane takes Jack’s niece Colleen hostage, a situation that has fuelled rumors and outrage at the character’s possible departure. Hamner also reveals that the ongoing feud between Victor and Jack will become even more escalated because of Victor’s involvement in bringing MJ to Genoa City. Also, according to Hamner, the consequences of Victor’s actions “will impact everybody on the canvas in a way that I believe is as dramatic as you can get. It's really going to change people on a very internal … level.” Since spoilers indicate that MJ shoots someone, and rumors suggest the victim may need a heart transplant, this could be what Hamner is referring to. Who will MJ shoot and what will happen to Colleen?

Ashley’s Mental Breakdown and Adam’s Gaslighting

Although Ashley was deemed mentally stable, she is still incredibly fragile and confused after being tortured for months by Adam, who has manipulated her into thinking her husband’s former wife Sabrina is still alive. Most recently, Adam tried to make Ashley believe that she hit Sabrina with her car, but Ashley remembered that it was really Nikki, another one of Victor’s former wives, that she hit.

Previously, Adam caused Ashley’s miscarriage, framed Estella and Mary Jane of gaslighting Ashley, cheated on Heather with Rafe, faked blindness to get out of prison, and planted surveillance cameras all over the ranch to spy on his family. Hamner teases that Adam will continue on his dark quest for revenge against Victor, but at the same time, he wants to regain Victor’s trust, approval, and love. Adam does have a conscience and he eventually starts to regret the consequences of his actions. Will Adam ever get caught and punished for his misdeeds, and can he ever be redeemed?

The Billy/Mac/Chance/Chloe Quadrangle

When Billy hesitated to sign his divorce papers, Chloe started to believe she still had a future with Billy. Now, she’s decided to use Chance to make Billy jealous and win him back from Mackenzie. The only problem is that Chloe eventually starts to develop genuine feelings for Chance, who is the total opposite of Billy. Chance’s mother Nina has already warned the scheming Chloe to stay away from her son. Will Chloe’s plan to get Billy work and how will Nina react to Chance’s growing relationship with Chloe?

Gloria and Jeff Conspire to Reclaim their Fortunes

Jeff and Gloria kidnapped Mary Jane, a wanted fugitive, in order to collect both Jack and Victor’s reward money for her capture. Their plan backfired, however, when Colleen found Mary Jane and released her. Hamner teases that “It's going to be a lot of fun to see what [Jeff and Gloria] bring on themselves as a result of their own sneakiness and conniving. They are their own worst enemies.” Will the Bardwells reclaim the money they lost in the bank collapse or will they finally suffer the consequences of all of their scheming and plotting?

Daniel, Amber, and the Stolen Art

After Deacon helped to frame Daniel for murder and art theft, he promised Amber Daniel’s freedom if she agreed to marry him. Then, Deacon’s partner (or lackey) Ryder turned out to be Kevin’s half-brother and the man who really committed the murder that Daniel was framed for. Also, it was revealed that Deacon and Ryder are after a stolen painting that Kevin and Ryder’s father kept in a safety deposit box that only Kevin has the key for. Now that Ryder has confessed to the murder and Amber has agreed to marry Deacon, will Daniel finally be cleared and will Amber go through with the marriage? And how will Ryder fit into the dysfunctional Baldwin-Fisher family?
