Sharon Abbott actions show her to be teetering on the verge of a mental breakdown. Will Phyllis push her over in a quest to keep her away from her husband Nick?

The Young and the Restless has viewers anxiously waiting for someone to realize that Sharon has become mentally unhinged before she goes completely over the edge. From her rape in 1995 to her present day state of mind, Sharon has been slowly unwinding.

Sharon’s Journey to Madness: Background

Sharon’s great love is Nicholas Newman. They married and had a storybook romance for many years. At least it appeared that way. They were able to overcome many obstacles: his cheating, her cheating and then came the death of Cassie, Sharon’s daughter and Nick’s much loved step-daughter. From that day forward they seemed to drift apart.

As with all good soap opera storylines, they soon went their separate ways. She wound up marrying Jack Abbot, although she was really in love with Brad Carlton. And Nick married Phyllis Romalati and had a child with her.

Jack’s a Liar and Brad Dies

Sharon and Jack’s marriage was doomed from the beginning. Jack is a master manipulator and liar. His quest to bring down Victor Newman no matter what the cost wound up costing him his marriage. When Sharon found out about Jack’s lies and plotting she left him.

Not long after the break up, Sharon and Nick find themselves stranded in a cabin in the woods. As they proceeded to give in to temptation, Brad was on his way to find Sharon. Little did anyone know that Noah, Sharon and Nick’s son, was lost in the cold woods... Brad would eventually be found dead, having fallen in an icy pond in order to save Noah.

Sharon Begins to Spiral Out of Control

Having lost a daughter, her husband, another husband, almost losing her son and having Brad die finally caught up to her. At the wake for Brad, Sharon picked up a figurine and put it in her purse. At the coffee shop her mother saw her put someone’s cell phone in her purse and made her put it back.

In addition to becoming a kleptomaniac, Sharon has also started acting like the town tramp. She has slept with Billy Abbott, Jack’s brother, Nick again, Jack again, and strangers she picks up at the bar. It is obvious to viewers that she is mentally losing control. The question is when will her on-screen family realize it?

Phyllis is Relentless

Phyllis feels as though Nick is migrating towards Sharon and so she pulls no punches in her efforts to stop it. She doesn’t want to lose her husband to Sharon and plans to go out fighting if it does happen. Viewers can rest assured that Phyllis will be relentless in her efforts to make sure Sharon doesn’t win Nick back; however, it could blow up in her face if Nick feels sorry for Sharon and decides to help her through her impending breakdown.

Stay tuned to see how far Phyllis will go to keep her husband and how far out of touch Sharon will spiral. Odds are the old, conniving Phyllis will appear and Nick will inevitably run to Sharon, who will end up either in the psyche ward or pregnant with no idea who the fathered the baby.
