Nicole and Stefano confronted Dr. Baker, although they may not have found him soon enough; Viewers learned more about Arianna's secret side business

On the September 1, 2009 episode of Days of Our Lives Sami and Rafe flew home, discussing who killed Dr. Baker and why they killed him the whole way back.

Sami and Rafe Fly Home

Sami and Rafe managed to escape Dr. Baker's hotel room. On the plane ride home Sami told Rafe she had gone to see Dr. Baker because he had told her he had something important to tell her then freaked out when he learned Grace was dead. Sami thought Dr. Baker wanted to tell her something about Grace's illness. She told Rafe she had started connecting the dots and thought Rafe may have evidence against Dr. Baker about Grace. Rafe didn't answer her, instead explaining he had received a phone call from Dr. Baker, as well.

Rafe believed loan sharks or bookies had killed Dr. Baker, possibly by accident. Sami didn't buy it and felt Rafe wasn't telling her everything.

Sami kept asking if they should call the lawyer on the card they found in Dr. Baker's wallet, but Rafe said it was probably just some malpractice lawyer. Interestingly enough, though, Rafe had already called the lawyer while Sami was in the bathroom.

Chloe Shows Progress

Kate was about to walk in on Daniel in Chloe's room, but Nathan stopped her. He claimed he needed to complete a check up before she could enter, which gave Melanie the chance to get Daniel out of the room and out of the hospital.

Later, Nathan begged Lucas to wait to turn her life support off. Kate was in Chloe's room alone at the time, and her monitor started beeping rapidly. Lucas and Nathan rushed in, and Nathan said her blood pressure and pulse her up - "a definite improvement," Nathan said.

While Lucas was in the room Chloe quickly opened her eyes and said, "Daniel." Lucas heard something but didn't look like he knew what happened.

Stefano Finds Dr. Baker's Lawyer

Stefano told Nicole he had planted evidence to link Rafe to Dr. Baker's death. Unfortunately, Rafe left the country before he could be caught. Now, Stefano was worried Rafe had found evidence from Dr. Baker and that E.J. would never speak to him again.

Stefano made one phone call and found the name of Dr. Baker's lawyer. He then made a second phone call, releasing his men to retrieve the lawyer.

It wasn't long before William was brought in. William said he would not hand over the letter, but Stefano told him not handing it over was not an option. William made the mistake of taping the letter out of his briefcase, and Nicole snatched it. Stefano then received a call about the call from Rafe that William had received while with Stefano. Stefano convinced the man with threats to never call Rafe back. He then told William to take a "permanent vacation" on his dime.

When Stefano left William revealed to Nicole that he had already put two letters in the mail - one for Mia and one for Sami.

Arianna Wants in On the Deal

Arianna received a phone call from a mystery man telling her she needed to come to the pier immediately if she wanted to see "the men behind the scenes."

When the camera cut to the man on the phone he was with a second mystery man, a higher up in the world of drug dealing, we can assume. A shocker, though, was Victor standing with the two men.
